At EGO, we’re no strangers to drama and dazzling fits—so naturally, we’re OBSESSED with BBC’s The Traitors. With the new series looming, why not host your own killer game night and bring all the backstabbing, scheming, and Winkleman-worthy tension to your living room? Here’s how to play The Traitors at home and live your best murderous life (no castle required).
Whether you’re sipping cocktails in your bestie’s uni flat or laying low in your secret lair (aka mum’s dining room), this guide will have you slaying the game—literally. Don your turtleneck, grab your eyeliner, and let’s get sinister.
How to Play The Traitors at Home:
Sip from the Poison Chalice
First, decide who’s serving Faithful vibes and who’s channelling their inner Traitor (because, let’s be honest, we all have that one shady mate). Cut some paper into strips and label each as either “Traitor” or “Faithful.” Make it juicy: about one-third of players should be Traitors.
Fold those bad boys up, toss them into a bowl, and have everyone pick their fate. Cue dramatic music. If you pull a “Traitor” slip, congrats—you’re the drama; if you’re Faithful, well, good luck trusting anyone tonight.
First Kill
When the clock strikes midnight (or whenever your Uber Eats arrives), it’s time for the Traitors to reveal themselves to each other. Everyone else? Eyes shut, no peeking!
Traitors, you’ve got one minute to silently collab and choose your first victim. Write their name on a note, or simply point to your target. Once the kill is confirmed, close your eyes and wait for the big reveal.
If you’re the unlucky victim, RIP queen. Grab a drink, cheer on the chaos, and start plotting revenge.
Gather ‘Round the Round Table
Faithfuls, it’s your turn to fight back. Think you’ve spotted a snake? Vote them out with as much drama as possible.
But Traitors, here’s your chance to throw each other under the bus faster than Claudia Winkleman can serve another lewk. Will you protect your squad or go solo for the win?
Once the votes are in, the banished player must reveal their identity. Faithful or Traitor, you’re OUT. Time to grab popcorn and watch the fireworks.
The Final Showdown
When you’re down to just three players, it’s make-or-break time. If the Faithfuls are confident they’ve eliminated all the Traitors, they can end the game and celebrate their victory. But if even one Traitor survives? Babe, they’ve slayed—literally and figuratively.
